92 f150 5.0 motor timing

hello i have a 92 f150 with an 88 or 89 5.0 in it. its only hitting on 4 of the cylinders. i was told i could just switch the injectors to match the cylinders because the motor is hitting 1 firing order and the ecu is telling the injectors a diff firing order. so my question is instead of replacing the motor and switching the injectors can i get an older ecu from an 88 or 89 f150 would it run right

There is no injector firing order on MAP engines; they're bank-fired. And the banks are the same for both ignition firing orders. But the firing order didn't change until '94, so your engine is right.

You have some other problem. Which distributor is in the engine: the '88 or the '92?

Have you checked plug gaps, plug conditions, cap, rotor, wires, wire routing, compression, vacuum, fuel pressure...?

. . . . .
