Update...

I've been on here almost complaining about my truck, but i'm really not complaining, haha. I just cant see why i'm getting the low MPG i'm getting. Other than that, i've gotten all the u joints replaced, ball joints, rebuilt the carb, now all i really have to do is replace the rear passenger side spring pack. I really like my first ford truck. The one thing i can say is that i have not once been in question about whether or not it will start and get me to where i need togo for the day. It still has a lot of small issues, but some of the irregularities are nice. Like before i turn lights on,when i press on the brake, all the dash lights illuminate.....kind of nice, haha. I have narrowed the rest of my problems down to vacuum issues. So....heres my question for everyone with a carb fed 300. I feel like if i shift from third to fourth at 55, the engine struggles, what is th normal RPM/MPH that everyone shifts from third to fourth in? I'm wondering if i will see an increase in mpg if i stay in third longer....for some reason the truck really likes third alot
