95 150 4x4 shifting
95 150 4x4 shifting
I have a 95 4x4 that is somtimes having a shifting problem at slower speed . I does fine going down the highway . At slow speed it sometimes acts like it is slamming into the next gear . I had to replace the tps sensor last winter and have no check engine lights on ( had a very similar problem and a light and code before repacing the sensor ). Fluid is full . Filter changed less than 20k miles ago . What should I start checking ?
thank you
thank you

ive got a 95 5.8 4x4 supercab LWB f150 that SLAMS into reverse. from park. it catches, clicks loudly and jerks into motion. not quite horrible. but annoying and scary. i cant afford a new transmission.
It does pretty much the same thing. Upon starting the truck, it will idle at about 900-1k rpm for about 10 seconds, then drop down to 550-600. If I put the truck into reverse before waiting for the idle to drop, it 'slams', so to speak. If I wait, it's nice and smooth. What my father usually does, since the driveway is inclined, he puts it into neutral, rolls out, and irregardless of whether it's idled down yet or not, putting it into drive doesn't seem to be a problem. This truck as 201k miles with the original engine and transmission.
As for clicking noises.. not sure. I don't recall any.
What is the idle like just before you switch it into reverse? I've been told that these trucks have always been like that, or atleast ours has.
