1990 clutch pedal

I just got my new clutch kit flywheel and slave cylinder in yesterday, I bled the system multiple time and the clutch seems to disengage the whole way, my only problem is that the pedal does nothing for the first half of it's travel, it doesn't even return the whole way, from the top to about halfway it just swings.
I am not particularly worried about that first half but I am worried that the clutch isn't actually disengaging fully and will ruin my new clutch.
Anyone else have this problem? Have a fix?
Also when i press the clutch pedal it seems like the whole assembly that holds the pedals moves a little if that matters.

The bracket that the clutch and brake pedal pivot on is worn out. The design of the clutch pedal to linkage angles puts a lot of pressure on the bushings inside the bracket, which wears out the bracket after the bushings fail. The bracket used to be available from Ford (the last time I did one, about 5 years ago). If not, I think LMC truck offers them. Pretty easy to replace. Have to unbolt the brake booster, drop the steering column, then it's a few bolts and linkage and it's out. Also, buy new bushings to install on the shaft of the clutch pedal.

If I do this will I get my clutch pedal back to stock feel, like will it engage sooner instead of when it is almost to the floor?

bigbronc is correct. I had mine on my 92' replaced at the dealer in 2005 or so. If you catch it early the bushings can be replaced. If not you will need the whole assembly. Mine needed the whole assembly and I think it ran $400 or so. Feels like a brand new one (which it should) still to this day.

I'm not sure I want to put another 400 into it...It does have almost 250k miles.
Is it hurting anything the way it is?

It seemed like it was releasing the clutch all the way but today when I went to back out it was grinding into reverse again, like it did with the old clutch, and it was hard to get into first and second, like the old clutch

Bite the bullett and replace the pedals before you burn up another clutch.

I'm going to bleed the system a little bit right now and If that doesn't work I'm headed to the junkyard.

Okay can someone tell me, or show me, exactly what I need. In LMC it has the bushings for 3 bucks a piece, i'm not sure if it is just the bushings though.
There is a piece they call 'bracket-brk/clutch pedal' for 159.95. Is this what I need?

You need the entire assembly that the bushings fit into. I will see if I can look at LMC later and get you the PN.

I am royally confused, it shifted like butter today, not a single grind.
Can I put the blame on the cheap tranny fluid or is this just a matter of luck for today?

If the pedal felt fine and sat at the right height before the new clutch, I doubt it's the bushings. These systems are notorious for holding onto air in the line going up to the clutch master. I reverse bled mine when I did it, and I still ended up with a sloppy pedal like you described. What finally worked for me was jack-rabbiting the clutch pedal when bleeding it. Pump it up and down as fast as you can 15-20 times, then hold it and bleed. You may have to do this several times, but you should start to feel a firmer pedal.

The pedal wasn't any better with the old clutch, it was a little worse I think.
This one is really beyond me anymore, Somedays it is smooth as can be other days it's like shifted an old 13 speed rig.
It is generally worse the colder it is out and right now it's the coldest it's been in quite awhile so I'm gunna go take er for a ride and see.
