Add a Fuel tank?

Ok, So I have a 1996 F 150 S cab short box, 5.0L V8. Anyways; it has only one tank, the 15gal tank. Now other short boxes I have seen have two tanks so i was wondering if there is a way to put in the second tank with only the one fill hole. I am really tired of not being able to go distance without refilling. Any ideas?

Find out how much room you have and instead of adding a second tank you can replace the one you have with a bigger one. This way you don't have to worry about some of the gas getting stuck in second tank.
But if you put in a second tank make sure they are even so the gas can flow easily between each tank and the hole connecting them are as close to the bottom as you can get

That's not how the twin tanks work

Not sure how to overcome the lack of a filler neck opening. Your best bet might be to find a junkyard truck as a donor and grab the bed as well as all the fuel system components. BTW your tank is 18.2 gallons.

I don't know if the swap is an easy one or not but Broncos used a single 32 gallon tank. You should be able to fit one in but IDK if the fuel lines and fittings will line up.

Thanks for the tech info, problem with adding a larger tank ie that I would need to relocate the spare tire and I really don't have another place to mount it. The new bed is also a great idea but to match the cab and get it all hooked up is more work than I want. Thanks for the ideas though.

Broncos used a swing arm on the tailgate to mount the spare. The same junkyard Bronco that was the tank donor could be the swing arm donor. There are also in bed spare mounts.
