Need opinion on possible f250 purchase

Hey guys

well first, im new to the forum. right now i own a 94 F150 but i am looking at a F250.
heres some more info on the truck

its a 1986 Ford F250
its a 4x4 4 speed manual with 1 ton rear axle and leaf spring and 7.5 ft meyers plow.

it came from the factory as a 460 then a crate motor 460 replaced that one. after the current owner of the vehicle got the truck he put in the 351W for better gas mileage and so it could pass emissions (becaue the aluminum block welded itself to the iron exhaust manifold)
the 351 has a 2 BBl Carb. it has a new alternator, starter solenoid, PS pump, headlight swithc, the plow pump was rebuilt, same with front end gears. Manual locking hubs replaced, all Ujoints, all brake parts front and back, clutch plate, water pump, distributor, plugs, wires, and hoses alike. now the problem with the truck is it has 2 broken spark plugs so has 2 cylinders not firing but he claims it runs not so bad on just 6 cylinders. the back up lights dont work, steel cable running to the heater core is snapped so its stuck on hot, and thers just a little rust on the front of hood and some on bottom of doors. but it has lots of body work done to it. it also has American Racing Rims and new BF Goodrich tires

i have yet to see it but he wants 2000 for it.

is it worth it?
thanks for your time
thanks,
Bill

What do you want the 250 for? Depending on the specs of your 150 it may be more capable for towing than that 250.

well id be using it for the plow in the winter and id like a truck with a higher stance. my 94's been havin alot of problems and are endless and is very rusted out. my truck has 3/4 ton springs in the rear end and its rigged to tow a 5th wheel

i plan on eventually returning a 460 into the f250 when i get the chance

I wouldn't give him 2000 for it.. Id offer him 1200 and not go a penny higher than 1500... You'll have to swap trannys or at least bell housings when/if you swap a 460 back into it

okay. i checked out the truck today. the fram is good just a little bit of surface rust, not even comparable to how much rust my f150 has. body is very good. i test drove it, clutch was new, shifting was perfect. it was well taken care of. also found out the rear end is from a f350 and the tires on the truck are gigantic. solid truck overall. i believe i will be buying it sometime next week. not paying 2 k though

With all those problems listed, and it being a buyers market for trucks right now, I'd pay no more than 1000 on the high end, and work my way down to 750. A friend of mine just picked up a 93 diesel one ton crew thats clean for only 3k.

Plow truck + F250 + big tires = one jacked up Dana 50 TTB front axle.
