EGT or not

Okay, I love this stuff, a person can really learn a lot and save a lot if you think things through, do your research, before you buy the first after market part. What to do with the EGR. I say remove the smog pump block all the line remove and block off all EGR passages. Since EGR is Exhaust Gas Recirculation that means less than desirable (dirty) mixture in the cylinder. Of course this is a computer comtroled unit designed to operate with the EGR. So my GURU friends, EGR or not.

The smog pump has nothing whatsoever to do with EGR. It is part of the Thermactor system. Aside from reducing emissions, it keeps the catalytic converter from clogging and extends the life the rest of your exhaust system.

A properly working EGR reduces emissions, increases fuel economy and costs exactly zero HP since it does not operate at WOT.

Assuming that you breathe air, I would further assume that you would prefer that to be clean air. I'm also going to go way out on a limb and guess that you don't want to make your fuel consumption any worse or pay to replace your exhaust system before you have to.

So why exactly do you want to get rid of the EGR?
