1994 F150 noise
1994 F150 noise
Hi all. I have got a question for everyone. I have a 1994 F150, 4x2, 300ci, 5spd. The truck has been a smooth running truck since I pruchased it a little over a year ago. But for the past two weeks, I have been hearing this noise on occasion. Sometimes it does it and sometimes it does not. The noise sounds like it is coming from one of the parts that the serpentine belt goes around. It is almost like a slight grinding noise. If you were to say the word word (sick) multiple times, that is what it sounds like. Example(sicksicksicksick) I have opened up the hood and tried to get a look at where it comes from, but can never get a good trace on it. I have noticed that when I push the clutch in all the way, it goes away and it does not do it until the motor gets hot. This is my 4th Ford truck and I have never heard a noise like this on any of them. Any info that anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
are you sure its none of the serp belt pulleys. The idler somtime sounds like that when bearings are going out. Use a long screw driver or a dol rod to listen to it. put the end of the screw driver on a put of the engine near the pulley while its runnung and put the other end uo to your ear. It'll work just like a docs stephascope and then you can pinpoint the noise. BE Careful and don't let the tool get caught in the belt. Ouch if it does and I assume no responsibility if this happens. LOL. Good luck
