1979 steering issues!!!!

Last week my son was driving his 1979 4X4 and he lost his power steering, a hose blew off! My wife drove it home toasting the power steering pump. I've now replaced the pump, fixed the hose, but the steering is still hard to turn. I was told the steering dampener might be seized????

Has anyone else had this issue? I'm getting another pump but any help or ideas would be great!!!

When I raise the RPM's it does help, but it seems to move one way better then the other! I'm going to jack it up and make sure the air is out of the system, by turning it left and right?

Any ideas????

I agree, sounds like air is still trapped in the system.

Good luck!
