lift question

I have a 96 F150 4WD with the twin Indepentent twin axle front suspension. I read somewhere that putting a 2-3 inch lift on it with leveling coils in the front would give you alignment problems unless the shims are at 0 or close to 0 degrees. Give me some help guys. thanks.

yes it will throw your alignment off bad giving you this look of your tires \ /. it does this because you are not dropping the mounting position of the brackets, only the lenrth of the spring, so the i beams are at a steeper angle, thus messing the alignment off. i had 2" progressive lift springs under my truck for about 3 months and i could tell by looking at the truck the front tires were ****ed like this \ /. i didnt get an alignment done cause i put a 4" lift with drop brackets on afterwords. anything over 2" you want to get brackets because you wont be able to get it aligned right with the stock ibeam brackets.

I just want alittle bit more clearance without risking spending thousands on jacking it up.I would put a 4" on it but i dont have the money to spend on the lift itself and new tires. any other reccomendations?

Well no kidding. You do have to have an alignment done more than just once you know.

Leveling coils. Search around some, plenty of threads on the subject.
