another starting issue

alright got my first starter issue figured out... needed a new battery, but now when i start it and shut it off the starter keeps firing and tries to start the truck. only way i can get the starter to stop is to disconnect the battery. i've obviously hooked something up wrong, so how do the wires line up on the solenoid and where does the ground for the negative battery terminal hook up too
or the real reason for why its doing this and anything that could help
thanks a lot, trucks a 1994 f-150

Sounds like the solinoid is connecter wrong. Not sure how to splain it but you should post in electrical systems- you will catch more fish over there.
Good luck

Pull the small wire off the solenoid that actuates it from the ingition switch. If it stops the starter, check for voltage there. Should not be any, if key is not in start position. If that doesn't stop starter from actuating, your solenoid's toast!
It doesn't matter how the wires are bolted on the solenoid, as long as the lead that feeds the starter is separate/isolated from the rest (which will be bunched w/ the Battery feed & always hot). The small wire from the ign. should go to the small (S) terminal. Continually cranking a weak starter w/ a pooched battery could easily fry a solenoid.
