Headlight woes
Headlight woes
I have a problem with the headlights on my 1995 F-150. It has just over 104,000 miles on it, 4x4, with the 5.0 L motor.
So, the light issue.
Two weeks ago, one headlight burned out. So I bought a new set and replaced both. The lights worked just fine for one week.
Last week, both low beams went out at the same time. However, the high beams WILL turn on when the multi-purpose lever is pulled toward the driver. When it is pushed forward to engage the high beams, they do NOT turn on. Meanwhile, the low beams continue to not function.
I have checked each light, and both look fine. I have tried a light that I know is good and its low beam will not function. I have checked the fuse under the hood for the headlights and it is good. I have replaced the headlamp switch in the dashboard and that did not solve the problem.
What is left? Is it the inner workings of the multi-purpose lever? Need I open up the steering column and test the electronics?
I'd like to avoid spending $50 on another part that I don't need. Very annoying especially once I figured out I could have tested it before replacing it.
Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks guys.

Problem solved.
It turned out that I had a faulty multi-function lever.
Took it in to O'Reilly auto parts, used their multimeter, and found out that I had some messed up circuits. $60 got me a new lever and now I can see again!
