92 F150 parking brake replacement.

I didn't get an answer from the wheel/tire/brake forum so I'm trying here.

I did use the search function and have yet to find my answer so I'm creating a new thread about this. On my 92 F150 the park break cable snapped up near the parking brake pedal so I went to the auto parts store and get the new cable. Took the parking brake pedal off, threaded the cable through just as it was when I took the broken one off and ran it down through the floor. Now the problem I'm having is that the cable will not reach the parking brake cable equalizer that's about half way down the truck, it's coming up about 3 inches short. I double checked with the parts store and i've got the right part.

Is there something I need to adjust from rear section of cable?

Make sure you have someone llft the parking brake peddle while you are under the truck. If the peddle falls down in the "brake" position it will come up short cause it pulls in the forward direction. You probly could prop it in the up position with something.

You can back the rear brake adjusters off.

Which way do you typically need to turn those? We tried adjusting them but they didn't seem to make a difference either way.
