I went to start the truck the other day and my colomn shifter has no tension in it and wont move from park. The igniton lock cylinder wont go back to the home position so I cant get the key out. So I just removed the whole cylinder and disconnected the battery for now.

I thought it might be the shift cable but its not. Its some of the mechanics in the column because when I wiggle the shifter around, the part where the cable attaches doesn't move at all.

I'm scared to dig into the steering column because I dont want to accidently set the airbag off. Any thoughts on what part it might exactly be?
