changing serp belt in 95

First time on a serp belt. Any tips?

And anyone know what size/type of bolt for the idler pulley and tensioner pulley? It's star shaped.

Thanks for any info

I can't give you the bolt size. Make sure the belt routing diagram is there under the hood BEFORE you remove the old belt. If no belt routing diagram, carefully draw one out, labeling what each pulley goes to. You'll never figure out how to route the belt without a diagram, atleast I wouldn't be able to. When you're done installing the new belt, check each pulley to make sure the belt is not a rib over the side.

Don't put any tools on that Torx bolt. Use a common 3/8" drive in the square hole on the tensioner arm. If it doesn't have one, use a normal wrench on the bolt in the center of the pulley.

Thanks for the tips. I figured out the belt tensioner as you described.

I PB Blastered the torx bolt on the idler pulley and bought a star shaped bit to fit. It loosened quite easily - be replacing that along with the belt in the AM.

Thanks for the assist!
