2wd to 4wd questions

i have a 96 ford f150 single cab long box and a 78 ford same style. both of the engines are 300-6 wheel bas is the same etc. the 78 is a complete 4x4 chasis. and i was wondering if it would be easier to take both the axles off the 78 and put them on the 96 if that would be even possible. i was going to use the same transmission (c-6) and transfer case along with the two axles and both front and rear driveshafts. the main thing that concerns me is if the drivetrain on the 78 will be able to bolt up to the 96... im kinda new at this so let me know.. and i cant afford to buy a new truck but have plenty of ford parts laying around my property

ofcourse its possible, you just need time money and know how. i know 0 about 2 wheel to 4 wheel conversions, but why dont you just leave the 78 as a 4x4?

im sure you have your reasons for wanting to do this. but a '78 4x4 is so much cooler than a '96

the reason im using the 78 is because the tin is completely rotted off. nothing left but the frame and its in good shape. besides me and my dad have 3 of them already and this truck is just for parts.
