Loud "clunk" when turning on AC/Heat when cold.
Loud "clunk" when turning on AC/Heat when cold.
1996 F150 4.9L manual
Ok, have had this "problem" for a while, don't remember if it has always been like this or I just noticed a while ago.
Whenever I first start the truck, I go to turn the ac/heat on and get a loud, vibrating "grind/clunk" noise.
Now, if I drive for a while...like 20 mins or so, and turn it on then, I don't get that. The longer I wait to turn it on, the less the noise.
I had my tension pulley and ac compressor replaced about 2 months ago, and it was happening before then. Also, there are no problems with the AC or anything else.
So, is this the blower? I used to think it was a bad fan clutch, but I replaced that several months ago because of overheating.
I'm thinking it's been like this since I've had the truck, about 2 years, but I'm not sure.
Anybody elses do this?
