Lots of help...Please!!!

So I have a 1994 F150, and I have LOTS of questions. If you have any answers/advice/help for any of them, just post it and hopefully i can get answers to all of my issues. I am a good mechanic, but some of this is new to me. So here we go:

1) I posted a while back about an issue with my reverse lights, so i go out and get my book from the library and I photocopy my wiring diagrams I need. I follow the wire (brown/red) all the way back to the fuse box under the hood. I check continuity everywhere, and it is good, but where the lights should connect...no working. Is there anything I can rig up, or any other routes i can try?

2) I cut my exhaust (just before the muffler) in preps of replacing my muffler with a glass pack, but for now (until I get it and weld it on) if I accelerate slowly, I hear a rattle sound. Is this likely my cat going out or my remaining piece of exhaust rattling? It doesn't do it at high speeds or if I am already going and i punch the gas.

3) I have a 4 inch suspension lift and recently, while I am driving down the interstate (between 55 and 75 mph) if I hit a small bump in the road my driver and passenger doors rattle, like they aren't closing all the way. Is there a way to adjust this, or a way to fix it. It's more irritating than anything, since I have driven in the rain and it doesn't leak or anything.

I believe that is all the issues i am having right now. If anyone can help me out with these things it'd be great. I guess I should mention that the truck has 204K miles on it and it is 15 years old...so she is getting a little aged.

have u checked the grounds? may look good but they can be corroded/rusty/dirty. also check inside the socket for corrosion.

could be either or just resonation.

check the doors to see if they drop when u open them. could also be something inside the door.

Not sure about this... I would have too see it to really figure out whats up.

could be a cat, but probably not... most likely a heat shield of some sort.

door molding? hinges?

#1 reverse lights "but where the lights should connect...no working" I don't understand what you meen.
Check for 12volts between the positive and common wires at the reverse light connector if no power check for 12volts from positive to vehicle frame or run a long piece of wire from battery. Do all this with the reverse light connector disconected.

If still no power do the same checks at the other end of the wire harness.

If you have good 12volts going into harness but not at other end you will need to replace those wires or find the bad spot. With harness disconected at both ends and isolated from any other devices check continuity of each wire from end to end, to each other at each end, and each cable to the frame at each end. All this should identify where the problem is.

#2 fix your exhaust

#3 door hinge bushings tend to wear out. open door look at the hinge pin and bushings where the pin pivots. If the holes are oblonged or the bushings are gone you will need to replace them.

ycgoat - The explanation for the reverse lights is that where the wires come out at the back, I tried wiring them up, but they don't work at all. What I was thinking is something like a switch I could wire up, or if there is another area to check from. I know the power comes from the fuse box, but it has to have a sensor somewhere. I've been told there is one on the transmission, but I can't find it. If anyone out there has any pictures or can help me out with exactly what I am looking for, that'd be great.

i had the same problem with my reverse lights so i rigged up a toggle switch and for a little added fun i rigged up a back up alarm with it too. very simple. and i also had the same problem with ur door but it wasnt the door at all it was the very bottom bolt on my pass. side fender was loose tightened that up and it was no longer rattlin

OK, well, I fixed the exhaust tonight, I bought a glasspack muffler and put it on. Oddly enough, most of the rattle went away by cutting off a broken exhaust mount. As far as the wiring the toggle switch goes, I think I have everything to wire it, but where should I tap off for power? Let me know if the sketch below is a good diagram.
