Boost on my 5.8l

I have a 94 f150. I was gonna ask if anyone knew about how much boost the stock bottom end will hold up to, ive heard at least 10 or so. Thanks

10 is pushing it with stock pistons. I'd probably limit it to 6-7 PSI if it were mine. The rest of the bottom end will easily take 10.

it's not about how much boost it can handle, it's about how solid your motor is and how good of a tune you have... you can blow your motor at 3# with detonation yet everyone claims 8# on a stock motor, yet I've been running 15# for years (I have a rock solid tune and supporting mods)...

what are you mods? plans? uses? supercharger (which type) or turbo? intercooled or non?

I have the 5.8. Ive got trickflow twisted wedge heads for it, probably gonna use the edelbrock victor jr intake. Gettin the maf off a 95 f 150. Itll have a comp cam for turbo. Copper head gaskets arp main bolts and rod bolts and head bolts. Long tube headers. 4.56 gears. Msd distributor. Im thinking of using an hx 40 turbo w 30 or 42# fi. I want to b able to pull alot. But b pretty quick. Itl b kinda my daily driver. So i have to get a tune for it? And how important are new pistons? Thanks

He's trying hard not to scare you. How much are bus passes going for these day's?
MAP engines don't handle this Mod as gracefully as MAF's.With a half way aggressive Cam, the rest of the engine has to have it's sh*t together! For one thing, they lack sequentially fired injection. Not to mention when it comes to responding to changes in intake air flow, Map's are downright retarded! Have you already upgraded your ignition system & bumped your timing? It's a cheaper date w/ good returns. Personally, w/o MAF I'd leave the Cam alone. Bumping the timing is a way of increasing your "rate" of compression, the MAP's will tolerate. I'm running 16BTDC but anything over 13.5BTDC is a very noticeable improvement. You can covert to MAF and that will get you SFI at the same time!http://fullsizebronco.com/forum/show...ht=timing+bump & http://www.dunne-rite.com/
