Most '92-96s came with a CHMSL/cargo lamp, like this:

You'll have to pull 1 more wire up from the brake pedal & possibly cut some sheet metal to make it fit, but it's certainly doable.

sorry about the messed up grammer there but, it does sound like a pain to do. i was reading somwhere tho that this years trucks came with that option. do you think the truck might already have the harness inside the cab for the brake/cargo light combo? how would i check for that?

The cargo taps off the interior light. Great idea, but remember the light will have to be red when the brake is applied or you'll get pulled over the first time a cop see's it! If you figure it all out, that would be a neat little Mod. Locate the brake & parking light circuit and loop it through an upgraded fixture(Disconnecting it from the interior circuit). Heck, maybe there is a harness connector, I'll call my ford parts guy. I know I was pleasantly surprised when I swapped my non-tach instrument panel w/ a tach included panel. Maybe it's another "better Idea" Ford kept to itself!

Thats a hell of a good idea. instead of finding the part with the cargo/3rd brake combo just entirely switch the cargo to the brake light. i never use the cargo light so i might aswell just convert it entirely. plus, splicing into the brake light is not hard at all. with a little help on FSB i got a great tech article on it.

just in case you guys might want it here it is.

I took the cargo light off, cut the hole bigger for the brakelight/cargo combo from the 95 truck and ran one wire from the brake light switch to the brake light, I used the factory wires for the cargo light and the ground. I used wire loom and black hockey tape to make the wiring harness so it would look more factory.
