Ok, was just wondering the concensus on here what anybody thought between Magnaflow or Catco catalytic converters. I have to replace the cat on my 95 regular cab shortbox 5.0 V-8 here shortly and am looking for the best buy for the money. The other thing is I've been given two different part numbers for the Catco, a 9650 and a 9302. Which one would fit the best? Thanks.

 

Buy whichever you get the better price on. Both are worlds ahead of the stocker in their ability to flow.

Which one fits best depends on what you've done to the engine in the way of mods that might require a larger exhaust and on what cat-back system you run. There is no "best" part. There is only the part that best matches the rest of your engine/exhaust

 

Hey StrangeRanger, thanks for the reply. No mods 'cept for a K&N fipk which of course has nada to do with the cat. Am just wondering about the difference between the 9650 and 9302 part number for the Catco. One place online told me definitely the 9302, another said the 9650 would fit, so may go with the Magnaflow! Thanks again.

The 9302 is for a 302; the 9650 is for a 351.

 

Believe me, I've done my own web searches. Nowhere on any of the online websites for any of the dozen or so places that sell cats did they break it down for 302 or 351. Neither Magnaflow.com or Catco.com do either. Catco.com, unless its under something else, shoots you off to other converter selling sites. But thanks for pointing that out. Somebody on here always has an answer, and thats what this place is for. Thanks again.
