In the service manual it's called a hood assist spring, sort of a hinge looking thing with a coil spring on it, one on each side, to ease opening and closing the hood. To make a long story short, the passenger's side coil spring fell off and I've been trying to get it back on under tension to support the hood, no luck. Anybody have any success with a similar problem? I can't even find a replacement part. 1995 F150

never heard of one falling off... i do however have a set ill sell you off of my parts truck lol

 

Just replace the lift arm assembly. If aswaff's are still strong & his price is right, I'd snag 'em.
