Wipers Cut Out

The wipers on my 87 F150 cut out on me. I saw online posts about the solder on the wiper circuit board cracking and being the cause for this. The directions I found said to just take off the lower dash cover and the plate where the switches are, remove the bracket that holds them in place, disconnect a couple wires, unbolt the black box that holds the circuit board unit, take it out, resolder it and then reinstall. Seems pretty easy right? If you answered yes, you are very wrong. All the wires are taped together and jammed up there. Just locating the unit was more of a project than I planned on, but I finally got it unbolted. Then I couldn't get it out because of the mess of wires. I hope I didn't break something because I literally yanked it and it finally gave me a little slack and hung down low enough that I could separate the sides of the box and take a look at the circuit board. I don't know what to look for. The posts I read said there would be cracks in the solder that have to be fixed. Anyone know if this is easy to detect or has anyone done this project before and can give me some pointers. I've never even picked up a soldering iron before.

look for a solder joint on the circuit board that isn't adhered to the board.
