Question Headers anyone?

I recently bought a 1989 F 150 ex cab 4x4 for my winter driver. I swaping motors next weekend due to rod knock in 5.0 currently.
I have the same 5.0 for it but I'd like to install a set of smog legal headers at that time.
Anybody using FlowTech headers or any other brand smog legal?
Where I live it's a must to have IM testing.

Thanks Mark

When I rebuilt my 89 5.0 I installed BBK shorty headers. They ARE NOT bolt on like they advertise, I had to have a new y pipe fabbed up. Other than that I have had no issues with them. Good luck with your choice.

BS. My BBK ceramic shorty headers bolted right to the factory y-pipe with no issues. And they are a great set of headers.

We put hose on my dads 95 5.0l 4x4 and they work fine. We have the wonderful sniffer testing too and it hasn't given us a problem yet. We did take it to the shop because we got the long tube ones from summit and they don't bolt on because of the extra length We did have to re-tighten them after about 1000 miles but thats with any set of headers. good luck

Then say you had problems with YOUR headers on YOUR truck. Dont bad mouth the company and call the liars for the way they advertise.

You are the only person I have ever heard of having problems with these headers.

I ordered a set of FlowTech headers, just the standard not C/C style. $168.00 through local parts store here.
Haven't done the engine swap yet, hopefully next weekend now.
Decided to do the body/paint also while its down for a few weekends now as well.
Pictures if interested when done

Thanks everyone for info.

Just be ready for the paint to burn off and for them to rust. Let us know how they work out.
