Can't get into 4 Wheel Drive

Please if anyone can help. I have a 1995 F150 w/ automatic transmission. I am having difficulty with the floor shifter for 4 wheel drive. It will not budge- any suggestions as to what maybe going on. I have looked and looked and cannot find owners manual. I replaced the automatic hubs with manuals - don't know if this has anything to do with what's going on but wanted to make sure I mentioned it. I put it in neutral, emergency brake on and the floor shifter won't push down, won't budge. I take it off emergency brake and try to rock a little and use floor shifter and still nothing. Any suggestions anyone?

Thanks,

You don't have to be stopped to shift into 4hi or neutral, but mine WILL while stopped so look under the truck and see if something is bound up in the linkage.
