Don't waste your time on GT-40's unless you pick up a good set for $200....

I have bought many of many of aluminium heads(trickflow/AFR/Canfield) for $600 or less in good shape...

the heads are being given to me for free.when you say a good set for 200 bucks, what do you mean? i dont know anything about heads, but my plan was to get the heads, do some mild porting, new springs and rockers, and what ever else are on there.

i would love to see where you find all those heads for 600 bucks for 2 heads. in good shape!

what makes the heads different? is it the way everything is shaped on the inside or is it the different srings, rockers,ect.....

i just thought that instead of buying heads i could make the gt's produce some good hp.......

I sold the last set of iron GT-40s that I had for $600. I've never seen aluminum heads that cheap.

As to performance increase, Ford claimed a 40 HP increase on a 302 from GT-40 heads, intake, EGR spacer, T/B and shorty headers. Like I said above, expect a gain of roughly 30 for the heads

Watch DFWSTANGS, CORRAL, STANGNET, even ebay every now and then...

I have a set of "stage 3" ported trick flow heads sitting in my garage in perfect shape I got for $400.. The canfields I have that were ported my foxlake I picked up for $600. I've bought a couple of sets of edelbrocks for $500 and resold for $800...

They are out there, just have to look for them and when you see them JUMP. Have cash in hand and don't hesitate for one bit. Either the person selling will back out, or someone else will get that deal. Lot's of people don't know how to budget and have to sell to feed their family for the week...

Also look for engine combo sales... Some times you can pick those up and part them out and make a MAKE money while keeping the heads..

You sold GT-40's for $600? Maybe I need to start upping my sale price on them when I pick them up.

Bet you wont beleive I picked up an S-trim setup for a fox body mustang with ALL the upgrades(10 rib belt, snow water meth, Vortech 6al, injectors, fuel pump, etc.) for about $400....

Best thing I have done is got a complete brand new AJE tubular front end setup with coil overs and CC plates if I took a guy and his wife to walmart and buy them food for the week... Total cost was $196
