84 300 i6

Dads got an 84 300 I6
Needs to replace the EGR tube between the manifold and the cat. Can it be bypassed for emissions?
Thanks

84'? In MD we can get historic tags for anything over 20 years old and avoid emissions altogether. Sorry, I don't have any mechanical information for you, but maybe there is a similar rule in Texas?

Visual

Its a visual inspection here and the pipe is corroded. Replacement is $175. I may hit the junkyard this weekend. Thanks!

Go to a hardware store & buy a flexible copper tube. Bend it to fit, and it'll never rust out. Some delicate hammering on the ends will flare them.

If you attempt to block or delete it, you'll raise your NOx emissions, and possibly damage the engine. Read this.
