pin ups
ok i have a 92 with the e40d and had to buy a 96 e40d and the plugs are diffrent, are all the wires in the same spot as the newer trans or am i going to have to wire the new clips into diffrent colors? any help would be appreciated.
its the bulkhead connector, the plugs are diffrent, one is smaller walled and the other is thicker i dont know if the wires go to the same pins on both bulk heads, i was going to just take a wire out of one and put it into the same spot on the other connector, will that work?i have to use the mlps from my old trans, the one on the new trans was broke

What you're planning on will not work. There were year to year changes in the pinouts prior to 96 when the connector changed as well. You're going to need the correct pinout diagrams for both years. You'll find them in the Ford EVTM (Electronics and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual)
If the wire colors are the same, you should be able to transfer (for instance) the Gy/Bk wire from your old connector to the position that holds the Gy/Bk wire in the new connector.
But having the full wiring diagrams would be better. E-mail me (not PM) about a disk.

well here is the update, finally got the trans in, i spliced the new connector into the existing harness, changes the mlps off the old one, started my truck and guess what there is now a hole in my tranny lines!!!!!!!!!! isnt that just my luck well back to auto zone tomorrow to get some compression fittings. i will let you guys know if the bulk head connector works when spliced in, thanks for all the help.
ok fellas here is the latest news, fixed the trans lines with some cmpression fittings and drve the beast, it was still slamming into gears and stalling at first but after a couple hours of driving it has smoothed out. so i guess the computer was still running the old codes for the last trans but all is well now thank you for all the help
