whistling sound?

this just started yesterday. whenever i touch the gas pedal the truck makes a whistling/screeching type sound. it stops almost instantly after i let off the gas. one of my friends said he thought it sounded like a belt problem. any ideas?

If it does it in Park, find the source. Is it under the dash, or under the hood, or...?

Will it make the sound in Park? If so, pop the hood & rev it manually at the throttle lever under the round black plastic cover on top of the engine.

It is probably a belt or pully if you think its a pully spray some WD40 on the bearing if it goes away for a minute its the pully. You can try some belt dressing spray but if not a pully and belt is in good shape it could be the belt tensioner. None of them are hard to replace with the right tools.
