swapping from carburetion to fuel injection

Alright so i have an 89 f150 i took the inline 6 out and installed a carb 302 in there. I've got a locked up fuel injected 302 and wiring harness just sitting in my shop. Whats it gonna take to do this? can i put the heads off the locked up 302 on the older 302 block. Also how can i mount the o2 sensor in my headers?

You're just making things worse by putting parts from one broken engine onto another. If you want it to run right, get a COMPLETE stock EFI engine & drop the whole thing into your truck. Block, intake, accessories, manifolds, Y-pipe, air filter, wiring harness, EEC - everything. I've done it on 3 vehicles now, and they all run great.

If you swap from I6 to V8, you'll also need a radiator & frame perches for the engine mounts.

The best 5.0L donor is a '98~02 Explorer/Mountaineer since it's MAF EDIS OBD-II.

Yes, the timing covers swap. A reverse pump won't work on the stock timing cover. The direction is cast/machined into it.

Then either drill the new cover for the dipstick, or drill the block, or swap the oil pan, or swap in a complete EFI engine.
