89 F-150 firing problem.........

Ive been having a problem with the way the truck runs, after the truck runs for a hour or so, the temp hand reads normal, but the truck shuts down........

Its doing this going up the mountain to work, hill is kind of long and steep grade also....

This is what happened the first time, changed out the Module....
The truck ran fine for awhile and now its done it again.....

So, I talked to the guys I bought the Module from.....he says it could be the pick up thats under the dist, says it will do it when its under a heavy load....thats causing the modules to burn out....and he also says it a pretty good job to change it out...

So Im going to have a mechanic here local who says he can check it a see if thats what it is, says he can put it on a machine to find out....
Can you find out this way or is he pulling my leg ?........truck is getting to be a pain in ***.......

Anyone else had a problem like this ?....

read the other discussion, "Engine dies if ambient temp is 75+ Deg F ". I have the same problem and this has been going on for a few years. Some sugestions are IAC, control module, and IAT sensor.

Buy the oldest edition of the Haynes manual you can find & follow the ignition diagnostic procedure (usually Ch.5, Sec.5, p.5-5).
