Question Rear Brakes Lock UP

1991 F-150

Pads are not worn out.

Intermittent problem with the rear brakes, very touchy (sometimes), rear wheels lock up (sometimes) when braking, once they are warm it doesn't happen. Seems to be worse when it is wet outside.

Is it something to do with the rear antilock? Any Ideas?

sounds like alot of vehicles with rear drum brakes. mine does the exact same thing only when it rains, but nothings wrong, same thing with my brothers jeep camanche, ex girlfreinds cavalier, and buddies chevrolet pickup. many people call it morning sickness

Seems like mine does it more and more often lately, I have to ride the brakes for about 5 seconds, then it goes away.

if the rear brakes are very touchy then something most likely is wrong with the ABS .

It's a known problem. Read this TSB:

For more info on replacing them, click my black Bronco in my signature & read the captions in the Brakes & Hubs album.

My 97 started that. Axle seals leaking on the shoes.
