No, that's my older brother, held by my dad, my mother in front. There isn't a date on the picture, but my mother believes that she was wearing a maternity top. That would put it mid year 1981.

Not totally sure how reliable this gouge is but this is where I got it. If you remember
Ranger badges, the Ranger and Ranger XLT trim packages became available in 75 I believe. I also think it is a short bed by the looks in the last picture, but not 100%, that might help in norrowing your search.

I didn't bust out the tape measure but I'm fairly certain it's a long bed. I'm really wishing I had just thought to snap a picture of the thing in September!

Most def a 73-75 and the three V8 choices for those years are 302, 360, and 390. Although not many with the 390 after 73. Needed to be at least a Ranger XLT to get the tailgate trim piece, Rangers and Explorers didn't get that.

Tough to tell from the angle, but looks like a short box to me.

My dad was able to confirm that it's a 74, or at least his mother tells him (anything she says can be taken with a grain of salt)

Are you referring to the black trim piece that would be above the FORD lettering that this one does not have? That would make sense, I'm fairly certain it was a ranger, don't recall it being an XLT.

I read somewhere that the 390 was only available with the auto in 73. Do you know if this was still the case for the 74? It's looking more like a 302 or a 360 all the time. My dad said he seemed to think it would have a 351W in it, but since this wasn't an option for that year maybe it's a 360.

Also, does anybody know what emissions equipment there was in 74? I thought I read that they all got catalytic converters in 75.
