Will this work?

I have a 94 f150 4x4 w/ 5.0 and E4OD. I also have a blown head gasket and 188k miles on the truck. I have a good line on a 5.8 complete motor with harness and computer and the same transmission. The 5.0 is MAF and if I'm not mistaken the 5.8 is SD. I know this question has been asked over and over again and I've searched and come up with nothing, but will the harness, computer, and the MAF from the 5.0 work on the 5.8? I thought I read a while back that the computer from the 5.0 will "relearn" the size of motor and start to compensate for this?

I'm building the truck for hunting only and looking at my options. Thanks everyone.

If your firing order is 1 3 7 2 6 5 4 8 (like the 351), and use the sensors off the 5.0, I would think that it would be ok. These motors weren't "sequential"
they were "bank fired". Other than the harness may be a little short in spots. I wouldn't think twice about giving it a shot first. However, if you got the whole shooting match, you could try that, too. Good luck.

Why bother? MAF has no particular advantage over S/D if you're not going to modify the engine significantly.

BINGO. If you aren't going to mod to take advantage of the MAF, there is no sense in doing it.

Well for the sake of convenience the truck is already set up for MAF... I understand the difference between the two and know the upsides and downfalls of each. The motor and trans should be here tomorrow, we'll see how it goes. I'll keep y'all posted as the build progresses. Thanks guys.
