Rear end compatible?

Will a 8.8 rear end out of a 92 f150 4x2 bolt up ok in a 85 f150 4x2 that has 8.8 in it now?

and are the drums the same size? I would like to find out before I drop it and find out that it doesn't line up.

Should be fine. The older axle will not go into the newer truck though.

Yes, it'll work fine. I have a '94 F150 2WD axle under my '83 Bronco.
