iac

no the rpms stay high constantly they dont drop, then i disconnect the IACV and the rpms drop to between 800 and 1100 but then the truck runs bad because it sounds like it wants to turn of also sometimes when i shift when its somewhat cold it will die, im not sure if it has a vac leak, how is the easiest way to check for one.

thanks

You're saying your base idle is at 2000 rpm's? That's pretty high considering it should be 650. You should be able to hear a hissing if the vacuum leak is that bad. But i'm gonna second the idea that the throttle stop screw was messed with.

Take back that peice of crap IAC you bought from the parts store and go pay $150 for one from Ford.

Better yet, have you pulled codes? Why did you change it in the first place?
