Would anyone know why the belt squeals for a few seconds when the thermostat opens? I discovered this by keeping a close eye on the temp. gauge.

Water pump on it's way out?

Coolant was flushed ~20,000 miles ago.

Belt getting old?

246,000 miles

 

ive never had this problem when i owned my 89 its long gone now but thats a long story i would check the belt if not replace it first seens how it is the cheaper route to go then see if it still does that
