believe it or not...there was a little box that you could get the c-6 behind the 351 or 302 in 1996 for the f150.

The Ford factory Shop Manual says not. It gives the applications of the C6 as I listed above. Given that 1996 was the first year for OBD-II and the tightened emissions requirements below 8500 GVWR which would have made computer control of the tranny virtually mandatory, I tend to believe the shop manual more than your recollection. The EVTM show any evidence of a C6 in an F-150 either.
