Post Won't start

I've got a 1987 F150 6 cyl, 67000 original miles. It stalled today, then wouldn't start. If it sits for awhile, it will start, but run for up to a minute. I can rev up the engine and everything sounds normal, but then it stalls and won't start again until it sits for awhile. It has a new spark plugs and wires, which were replaced 6 weeks ago, new alternator and battery 2 weeks ago, and I just replaced the fuel filter. Any ideas?

Cool

MikeFM58, when you get the truck started, try and see if there is alot of pressure at your tailpipe exit. Just put your hand(s) over the end BUT don't seal it completely. Get someone to try and rev it up to around 2000, if you can and see if the pressure increases. If the pressure doesn't increase, your catalytic converter might be plugged and need replacing OR removed depending upon your emission restrictions. If had the converter go on my '87 I-6 and it wouldn't let rev over 2000 without major vibration (bucking) because it couldn't get rid of the exhaust through the cat. It was building up too much backpressure and causing problems for the motor. You can also measure the back pressure with a guage to see if it goes too high, they should just screw into the O2 sensor location.

I replaced the TFI Module, which is located on the distributer housing, working great now. The guy at Discount Auto Parts also said they sell lots of TFI modules. I also had to get the special tool to remove the bolts.

Could be a fuel pump relay switch. I had the exact same problem in an 88 Ranger, and it ended up being a relay switch that was one of the little gray relays under the hood. Changed it out and it ran fine until I got rid of it, it had about 80,000 on it when it went out.
