Hello. I have a 1985 ext. cab with 302 EFI, auto trans. The current engine has about 135,000 miles on it, was rebuilt last year, and is using about a quart of oil every 2 weeks(I didn't do the rebuild, just recently bought the truck.) This is the second engine block, all other engine components were reused from original engine, total of 237,000 miles on truck. I would like to know what year engines, complete or just block, will be an easy swap. Or, should I just rebuild the one I have again? Can I install a newer 302 without to much hassle with wiring harnesses and tranny hookup? Any help would be appreciated.
