Hesitation when hitting the gas
I have a 94 F-150 with 83k miles on it. When I am at a complete stop and hit the gas the engine hesitates and seems to struggle for a bit, the lighter I touch the gas pedal the more it hesitates, it even stalled on me once in a fast food line when I just tapped it to move forward a bit. There is no other problems with the truck, it runs wonderful and I got it up to 75mph on the highway and it is smooth as can be. Is this anything serious? What can I do to correct the problem.
Check to make sure the EGR valve and vacume actuator is working, that's typically the problem. Also check the o2 sensor, they typically begin deteriorating at 50,000 miles.

I have a '94 and it would do the same thing, I fixed it by disconnecting the air hoses from the throttle body and spraying carburetor cleaner into each throttly body opening. When you do this leave the truck running and spray the cleaner in there really lightly so it doesn't kill the motor. If you want it to work even better take the cover off of the throttle linkage and rev up the motor with one hand and spray the cleaner into the throttle body with the other hand. The problem is carbon builds up in the throttle body after awhile...continue spraying out the throttle body until you don't notice the hesitation anymore. It works...trust me.

I ahve a 92 f150 and I have had maybe the most problems, I can recomend a few things.
The Idle air motor sometimes gets carbon and ruins it, and it doesn't work properly.
Also the o2 sensor, if not already changed.
The map sensor, that was a big problem for me. also check ALL the vacuum lines and check valves, high milage engines have alot of carbon. Oh and yes, check vacuum canisters for leaks. hope this helps,
Jesse
