noise from belt
I have only owned this Ford 150 XLT truck for about 4 years now. I have put a new belt on about every 6 months because the old one starts to squeel when I start it. Only when it is cold. Can anybody tell me how to fix this.
Hmm, only general remarks: Check your tensioner, if it's still providing enough tension. Also, take your belt off and check if all the pulleys run smoothly. If they all seem to be fine, you can narrow down the search: check which side seems 'glossy' on one of the worn belts - that side is towards the pulley that causes the belt to slip.

BridgeRunner,
My 93 did this for 2-3 years. I finally got tired of it. If it does it only when cold, it could be the bearings in your tensioner and idler pulleys. I replaced mine, but kept the old belt and the squealing is gone. My tensioner pulley was pretty well shot. It had cupping around the entire surface. Hope this helps...from a displaced Yooper (Marquette)!
