Question Engine options?

I have a '93 F150 4x4 (5 spd manual) with 154,000 miles on the 4.9L I6 and i am less than totally thrilled with the power i'm getting out of it. What are my options? Can i make any improvements to the current engine which would make a noticeable difference or, should i consider replacing this engine with a V8 to get the extra oomph? Is it possible (read: "not prohibitively expensive") to put a 4.6 V8 in this truck or would i be better off going with a 5.0?

I really like the truck and i'm not looking to have the fastest thing off the line at the stoplight, i just want to not be one of the slowest accelerating vehicles out there. The fact that this truck is straining to get beyond 75 mph on level ground on the expressway is also something i'd like to see some improvement in.

So, any thoughts folks?

Go with the 302(5.0) or better yet put a 351(5.8) in it if you want alot of power. You could do a few things to inprove the 6 banger but it probable wont be enough for what your looking for from the sound of it.
