Question 1996 Year Model

I own a 1996 F-150/302ci/2wd and am trying to increase the performance of the vehicle. The problem is that every time I look for performance parts I get a list that runs until 1995 and then skips to 1997. Does anyone know why?

There's a lot of confusion about 96s out there. Other than the change to OBD-II, your truck should be identical to a 95, but because of the OBD-II the same mods may set off error codes in the PCM. In 1997 Ford completely redesigned the trucks and drivetrains to the point that they have little in common with the older ones. Basically by ignoring the 96s the speed parts manufacturers are saving themselves a headache.

I hope I don't sound stupid by asking this, but what is OBD-II? It sounds like a programming language.

OBDII
On Board Diagnostics Version II

The Governments Big Brother computer that reports what modifications or problems have been noted when you hook up an analyzer to it. I have heard of some Versions (III or IV) that will give the power to disable a vehicle via wireless communications (Cell communications). Just some more big brother stuff.

Thumbs down

Ah, why am I disliking the government more and more every day? Disable a vehicle by remote? Talk about out of control...
