Question '95 F150 302...2 Cats/true dual exhaust?

My brother just purchased a '95 F150 EB 302.
I haven't had a chance to look at it.
Did this truck come with 2 Catalytic converters, so he can run true dual exhaust?
Thanks.

nlp,
Yes it did come with 2 cats, but, there is a "Y" after the exhaust manifolds and it goes into a single pipe then the 2 cats and just a single exhaust. Unless it was modified by the previous owner, that's what it should be. You can look at some of the other posts here for ideas for duals, but most people go for the cat back split instead of true duals.

Like Nate said, they do have a preheater and then a cat, with single exhuast, and depending on the mileage and your govt, the cheapest and probably legal way is just a catback.

The best is by far a true dual setup. I wish our generation had a exhuast setup like the newer f-series does.

Question

As I have stated before, I have a 1990 F-150 4x4 with the 302. As you guys have mentioned, I have the y pipe after my headers, with the 2 cats. or a cat and a "preheater" or whatever, then the muffler. Is there any possible LEGAL way I can run true dual exhaust? I want to get the Random Technology high flow cat(s). or whatever, and I was wondering with new cats., and some new piping, is there any way to make mine true dual exhaust? If I did get dual exhaust, I know I would have to get a new muffler too, or maybe even two and I know that can get real expensive, especially when you opt for the performance parts. But I just want to know if it is possible. Thanks in advance.

In order to get "true" "legal" dual exhaust, you would need 2 cats - 1 on each pipe. You could then go with glass pack type mufflers as they are much cheaper and will give a nice sound. I would go with 18" and 2 1/4" pipes. Bigger will give deeeper sound. On my 96 I went with a "true" setup with 24" glass packs and 2" pipe. It sounds really nice and I gained noticable power with about 3 MPG better mileage. I don't have cats though - no emmissions testing in MT I wouldsuggest if you can afford it, it is a great mod - more power + metter mileage =

I have true duals without cats and turbo mufflers on my 1989 F-150. IT sounds good, and I noticed more low end torque, but not mileage. Must be a 4x4 thing.

On my '94 s/c F-150 4x4 I cut out the second cat and ran a single 3" pipe w/ a single 3" in/out Terminator. Sounds pretty sweet, has a deep rumble along w/ a nice tone.
