Question Anyone Have a K&N FIPK On Their 302?!?

Ok I ordered a new K&N FIPK for my truck today but It won't be here until Thursday. I was just wondering if anyone with a 5.0 (302) truck has one of these?

If so what do you think of it? Noticable Improvement? Easy install? Any problems?

Thanks guys!

I have one and love it. Gives a very noticeable increase in power and throttle response. A lot less restrictive. And it sounds mean as the devil. Get a lot of compliments on looks too.

Great! Thats the kind of stuff I want to hear

I had one on my BMW and it didn't make much "seat of the pants" difference" but the sound was just awesome. I figure that this big 302 is gonna suck in a whole lot more air than the BMWs little 2.7 did. So I hope it does sound awesome

I was wondering though (since I don't have the kit yet) where does the PCV filter mount if the stock airbox is gone?

And

95FordMan: Accel 8.8mm Wires are some BIG WIRES I was thinking about getting some as well. How do you like them? Any performance difference? Any problems?

Thanks everyone....

I didn't have a PCV filter on my 96' (different setup). But I've seen a friends 88' and the hose hooks up to the new K&N intake. Don't worry, it's a complete kit and they won't leave anything undone.

I was curious about getting one myself, but a member here stated that he wasn't happy with its performance. I figure that it will help a Massair 302, but howabout the SD 302?

WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW!

Ok I got the FIPK installed yesterday afternoon. It took me around 45mins. The kit is EXTREMELY well done. The Instructions are great and the quality & fit & finish of all of the parts are excellent (especially the filter bracket which is very well made). The kit is very complete and overall just an excellent kit

The filter looks absolutley awesome under the hood. It done away with the bukly airbox and the airbox duct. The entire engine pay looks cleaner & neater. I love the way it looks.

Ok after I got the FIPK installed I pulled out of my driveway and went WOT and almost $h1t my pants! It sounded like someone just floored a race car! The sound is just awesome. As HANK said, "it sounds mean as the devil." Thats a perfect description The sound rocks, it kind of sounds like adding a set of headers. The sound is more like an exhaust sound than a intake (sucking air) sound. It's just hard to explain but you'd love it!

Also I noticed that I can now chirp my tires in 2nd gear (a hard feat to pull off with my Gumball Pirellis) before they would only chirp every now and then. And my "seat-of-pants-o-matic Guage" tells me that acceleration is better. At least if it's not better it sure sounds and feels like it!

The truck revs much much quicker. When you put the hammer down it jumps forward. Before it would hesitate a good deal. So this should help me get the holeshot on those darn GMs.

Overall I can truly say that this kit was worth every penny. The power increase is great (I'd say around 12-14hp) but the SOUND, is the best part. If you have been thinking about getting one of these kits, THEN DO IT!

Okay you got me interested, where did you get yours? How did you deal with the crankcase breather line?

I orderd mine from my local Autozone. it was $169.99 and they had it to me in 2 days. The crackcase breather line was really simple. The kit came with a brand new piece of rubber hose and some hose clamps. I ran the piece of rubber hose from below the oil cap (where the stock one connects) to the new K&N filter. The filter bracket has a little hole cut out where you insert the hose then put a clamp on it and it uses the K&N as the breather filter. It's a really cool setup.

Hey guys... those of you with a K&N FIPK, did you get a new tube, or just a filter and adapter for the mass air sensor? I payed $180, and only got a filter and massair adapter, it sounds like you guys got a tube????

BMW325,

those 8.8 accel wires are great..ive noticed a good bit mpg increase and some more power. but i did replace the coil, cap and rotor with accel. the only problem i had was rerouting the wires..two of the wires were way too long and i had to curve them all over. i finally got all the wires right and sterted it and and it has run fine ever since.. also the coil wire is a little long..it may take a while the get them all lookng good, and for them not to crossover but its worth it.

I am not very familiar with the K & N FIPK systems that you are talking about. Are these the ones that replace the factory air box completely? My factory air box is cracked and I have not even bothered to check with the dealership for fear of the cost. Do any of you have an air box for a 1996 302 that you don't need any more and would like to give it a good home for little money? If so, just email me, Thanks alot, -- Martin
