electronic problem on my 94!

hey guys.
im having an electronic problem here.

i came outside from the store one day and noticed my headlights and only headlights were on. like not the corner lights, tail lights, or anything else.

so i jump in and make check the switch, shes off still.

so i try jiggling the switches and ***** around and they still stay one.

so in the end, i ended up pulling one fuse at a time from under the hood until the lights went out.
it ended up being the 5th one (from the engine).

so now my problem is, that i have no highbeams, AND no horn at all.

if i put the fuse back in it all seemingly works fine, minus the lights always being on.

by the way, its a 94 XL, with the 5.8 liter!

any input on what this could be would be GREATLY appreciated, thanks!

Sounds like you have a bad "Multi-Function Switch".
You might try moving it in and out of the flash to pass position and see if that helps it.
You might have hit it when you got out and it is jammed in the flash to pass position.

I had a problem with the 94 I used to own. IIRC the signal lights would not work. I picked up a multi switch. I noticed that it bolted together. I took my old one apart and the grease inside was dried out and the contacts were corroded. I cleaned the grease out, sanded the contacts, and replaced the grease and it worked fine. Saved me about $75. It might be worth a try.

Highbeams or lowbeams stay on?

Are you in Canada or is it a Canadian truck?

subford: i tried, but that didnt help.

redtruck: i woudl try that, but is there any tests i can try before having to rip the column apart?

and adrianspeeder: i am in canada. and it looks like the lowbeams ONLY (not the corner lights or any others)
when i pull the 'flash to pass' switch back, they get brighter. but its also a BIT brighter when i actually pull the headlight switch on.

any ideas guys?
it seems that its the high beam stuck on.
i pulled up to a wall with the fuse IN, and it had both the low and high beam patterns.

so i guess the switch it self?
but is there any test i can do before i spend the money on a new one?
