Question Remarking Dipstick?

I recently heard that Ford might have put out a TSB for 302 to remark the dipstick. When the dipstick says full, it is actually reading 1 quart low. If anybody heard this, let me know.

I haven't heard anything official, but I do know that when I change the oil and filter in mine, add the 6 quarts the engine calls for, run it, and check it later it is usually above the full mark (about 3/4 or a quart or so). I think the ownwer's guide says something about this. I'll check & let you know.

Thumbs down

Well now, this sounds interesting. My truck has been burning 1 quart of oil every 1k miles which is awfully weird considering the truck doesn't hardly smoke at all. I keep it filled to the full mark but it burns it so quick until it gets to the 1 quart low mark. Thats weird, that very well could be the problem maybe I am overfilling it.

Just had a chance to check my owners manual. It says that the dipstick may register above full (about a half quart) when the truck is new or after an oil change. Go figure.
I just put the six quarts in it calls for and check it often. It never moves.

Here's another odditty. The oil pump is not in the sump like on most other cars, it is on the opposite end with a "straw" to the sump, thus creating the extra quart? Anyway, a guy in hs told me that it only measured 5 qrts to begin with.
