Post Larger tires on my 95 4X4

I just recently bought my truck and it has P235/75/R15 tires on it. It has the 4.9L and is a 5 speed manual. I want to put a little larger tire but not huge. I was thinking along the line of a LT 255 series. Will this affect anything major in everyday driving of the truck. Thanks in advance for any help.

That little of an increase will not effect your truck all that much. You will notice a little less power, mostly in overdrive going up hills on the highway. It won't be that bad though. I had 31-10.5-15's, which is about the same, on an identical 89 and it wasn't bad at all. Your speedometer will read a little slower than you are actually going so be careful going by the speed traps.

Hi, I agree with the above statment...I had the original 235's and then went to 30"s and now 31's...Actually what it supposedly does is reduce the gearing in your rear end, hence 3:55=P235, and now maybe 3:25=31's

Question

Not knowing that much about tire sizes, whether metric or standard, can you answer me this? I just bought a '96 shortbed and I want to modify. I am looking at putting a 4 inch lift kit in and boosting my tire size to a 35, currently I have 33s on. Is there some site or some person, who's knows clearances for tires, I can get in touch with?

Skyjacker says that 35's will fit with a 4 inch lift. Superlift says only 33's will fit. I suspect that Skyjacker means that they will fit without rubbing when the truck is just sitting still. I made measurements on my 89, and I found that 35" BFG's (all tires have diff. actual ride heights) would fit with a 4" lift, but would just barely touch the rear of the front fender well under near complete compression. This is without the wheels turned. What I am saying is that 35's will probably fit alright with a 4" lift under street driving, but on any kind of off road excursion, they will probably rub. IMHO, if you want 35's on road, you should be fine. If you plan to do off roading, go with either a 6" lift, or a 4" and a small body lift.
