High idle: I have an annoying high idle when I shift (5 speed) it drives me nuts. I cannot find how to adjust the idle, The Haynes manual sucks. I have the 302 V8 FI and warm idle is over 1000rpm and cold idle is 1500rpm. How do I adjust the idle?

Spare tire: I don't have a spare tire. There is no frame either. Where can I get an aftermarket one, I prefer not to get a junked one unless I have to.

I'll do my best to answer your question. High idle. It sounds almost like you have a vacuum leak. IDle, try resetting your timing. IT is supposed to be set at 10 degrees BTDC. The computer should bring it up to 17 degrees. Remember to pull the spout connector! As for spare: If you want a good/used one, just get a spare 15x7 rim, and tire from a dealer. You might even be able to find one at a junk yard.

 

Well I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. My 96' has done it since the day I drove it home from the dealer. When you depress the clutch pedal to shift and let OFF the accelerator the engine revs up high. It makes it near impossible to shift smoothly (without bucking). I checked the linkage and it is all fine. I've driven several other Fords with the 302 and 5-speed and they all do the same thing, so it may just be the design (but IMHO a bad one). If anyone knows a fix, I would love to hear it.
